DC-Contactors
With the introduction of DC networks in manufacturing, as well as the rapid growth of renewable energies and the electric automobile motor industry, the switching of high DC loads is gaining in significance and underscoring the need for high-quality DC contactors. Building upon our experience in railway technology, Schaltbau produces highly reliable, outstanding contactors for all fields of use in which a load circuit must be switched on and disconnected securely. Designed to IEC specifications, our wide variety of DC contactors in stock range from contactors for low-voltage devices, such as batteries, through to high-voltage power contactors up to 3,000 V and 1,100 A. We develop DC contactors for, among other uses, industrial storage systems, battery test systems, car batteries and electrical bus motors.

C303 1 pole bidirectionally DC contactor
The C303 bi-directional DC contactors are compact, high-performance switchgear for applications with high making currents or large capacities. All versions can carry up to 500 amps continuously; in the event of a short circuit, significantly higher currents can flow without the contacts welding together. This means that the contactor retains its full function to disconnect high loads – up to 1.5 MW – regardless of the current direction. This full bi-directionality is important for systems with a charging and discharging process. Typical applications are DC circuits in inverters for battery storage systems, charging stations in the e-mobility sector or in test benches.

C300 1 pole bidirectionally DC contactor
The bi-directional DC contactors C300 switch high power in the smallest space. With a making capacity of up to 4,500 amperes, the extremely compact series is suitable for applications with high inrush currents or high capacitances. All versions can carry up to 500 amperes continuously In the event of a short circuit, even 6,000 amperes may flow for 20 milliseconds without the contacts welding. This means that the contactor retains its full function to separate large powers when required: up to 500 amperes and up to 1,500 volts – regardless of the direction of the current. This full bi-directionality is important for systems with a charging and discharging process, such as in battery storage or electric vehicles. Other typical applications are the DC circuit in inverters, combiner boxes in photovoltaic systems or the management of battery storage systems.

C310 1 pole bidirectionally DC contactor
The bi-directional DC contactors switch high powers in a small space. With a making capacity of up to 2,500 amps, the compact switchgear is suitable for applications with high inrush current or high capacities. All versions can continuously conduct up to 500 amps. In the event of a short circuit, 3,000 amps, can even flow for one second without the contacts welding. The contactor therefore maintains its full function in order to disconnect high power ranges if necessary up to 500 amps and up to 1,500 volts – irrespective of the current direction. This full bidirectionality is important for systems with a charging and discharging process, such as in battery networks or electric vehicles. Other typical application areas are the DC circuit in inverters, combiner boxes in photovoltaic systems or the management of battery storage

C320 1 pole bidirectionally DC contactor
The bidirectional DC contactors of the C320 series extend the application range of the successful C310 and C360 series. The compact devices switch even higher powers. With a rated short-circuit making capacity of up to 3,000 amps, the contactors are suitable for applications with high inrush currents. The devices can permanently conduct up to 1,000 amps – thanks to high contact forces with measurably less heating in the main contact system. In the event of a short circuit, as much as 4,500 amps may flow for 100 milliseconds without the contacts welding. This means that the contactor retains its full function in order to disconnect large powers when required, regardless of the direction of the current. This excellent breaking capacity is made possible by an efficient ceramic arc chamber with generously dimensioned air gaps.
