OverSight™-EdgeUnit (OS-EdgeUnit) is a ready-made solution for several measurement, monitoring, and control solutions. EdgeUnits, implemented in two different sizes, enable both the monitoring of small individual devices and the implementation of larger measurement solutions.
Digitize Data Collection and Equipment Monitoring
Where PLC solutions are not agile enough or large DCS-level systems are over-dimensioned, edge computing technology can open new doors. We have already built dozens of edge computing solutions for our customers and found it to be a technology that enables entirely new implementation models.
By digitizing measurements and their monitoring, the internal diagnostic data of the devices can be efficiently utilized, for example, in the use of predictive condition monitoring. This often-overlooked data is not only a support for interpreting momentary fault situations but provides continuous visibility into the operation of the equipment.
In addition to internal diagnostics, edge computing opens the possibility of real-time monitoring from the cloud service and the use of new data sources such as open data interfaces in the equipment measurement entity. One Solution – Many Possibilities
OverSight™-EdgeUnit
OS-EdgeUnit is a ready-made solution for several measurement, monitoring, and control systems. It includes everything needed for even large-scale solutions. Possible decentralized targets can be implemented using SatelliteUnit units, which act as data collection and control tools as an extension of the OS-EdgeUnit.
OS-EdgeUnit Mini
OS-EdgeUnit Mini contains only the most essential components for edge analytics and cloud connections. The PC and display are smaller than the basic OS-EdgeUnit. Units can also be implemented without a display. OS-EdgeUnit Minis are aimed at solutions where there is no need for a large amount of analog I/O, demanding calculations, or SatelliteUnit expansion units.
SatelliteUnit
SatelliteUnit is a unit installed in decentralized targets containing communication and I/O modules. It does not have computer or display but acts as a cohesive entity for different signals, which can be delivered to the controlling OS-EdgeUnit with one cabling. This can effectively reduce the need for cabling between decentralized targets. Connections to decentralized targets can be implemented, for example, with fiber optic connections.
Customization According to Needs
Although different EdgeUnit solutions are pre-designed entities, they can be used for several different purposes. The modularity of the software and extensive configurability ensure that future change needs do not cause problems with the life cycle of the equipment.
